London Tower Bridge
Stretching across the Thames River with an elegant grace, London's famous Tower Bridge is a well-known icon of the city and one of the top tourist attractions. One of the most famous bridges in the entire world, this Victorian structure is open for tours and features stunning views across the river, interesting engine rooms, rotating exhibitions and four unique venues. View the city from high walkways and marvel at this incredible feat of engineering, which has presided over the city of London for more than a century.
About the Tower Bridge
Contrary to popular belief, London's Tower Bridge is not falling down, and this structure actually has nothing to do with the nursery rhyme, which actually predates the bridge. The Tower Bridge was built during the Victorian era from 1886-1894, created to be a drawbridge to let the tall ships pass through. Graceful and elegant, the bridge is made up of concrete, steel, Cornish granite and Portland Stone. With two tall towers on either end and an ornate façade in a Victorian Gothic style, the bridge matches nicely with the much-older London Tower, located nearby.
